Slovak Prime Minister reiterates ban on import of some Ukrainian agricultural products

Slovak Prime Minister Fico and Agriculture Minister Richard Takacs and others went to the southwestern villages of the country to inspect the farmers’ harvest. At the press conference that day, Fico reiterated his position of continuing to protect the interests of farmers and insisting on banning the import of some Ukrainian agricultural products.

Fico said, “Slovakia will not back down on the issue of importing Ukrainian agricultural products. Now Slovakia does have a list of certain products that it does not want to import from Ukraine.” Fico also said that he had talked with the Ukrainian Prime Minister on the issue of agricultural product imports and clearly expressed his position that Slovak agriculture cannot be destroyed and Slovak farmers must be protected.
