“2023 China’s Top 500 Private Enterprises” Suzhou Manufacturing Leads the Nation

The All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) released the list of “2023 Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises” and the “2023 Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises Research and Analysis Report” on September 12th. Jingdong Group, Alibaba (China) Co., Ltd. and Hengli Group Co., Ltd. ranked the top three on the list. Among them, the third-ranked Hengli Group Ltd. is from Jiangsu Province.

According to the research and analysis report, in 2022, the threshold for entry into the Top 500 Private Enterprises is 27.578 billion yuan, an increase of 1.211 billion yuan from the previous year. Among them, there are 95 enterprises whose total business revenue in 2022 exceeds 100 billion yuan (inclusive).

According to reports, this year is the 25th consecutively organized by the National Federation of Industry and Commerce on the scale of private enterprise research, a total of 8961 annual operating income of more than 500 million yuan of enterprises to participate.

As a large private economic province, Jiangsu 89 private enterprises in China’s top 500 private enterprises, ranked second in the country, 82 enterprises in the manufacturing industry 500, 10 enterprises in the service industry 100. Among them, Hengli Group, headquartered in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, ranked first in the top 500 manufacturing enterprises for two consecutive years.

The list shows that a total of 26 enterprises in Suzhou were shortlisted in the “2023 China Top 500 Private Enterprises”, 25 enterprises were shortlisted in the “2023 China Top 500 Manufacturing Private Enterprises”, which were the same as the previous year, and the number of enterprises on the list ranked first in the province. At the same time, there are two Suzhou enterprises listed in the “2023 China Top 100 Private Enterprises in Service Industry”, an increase of 1 over the previous year. Hengli Group once again won the first place in “2023 China’s Top 500 Manufacturing Private Enterprises”.

The threshold of “2023 China’s Top 500 Private Enterprises” reached 27.578 billion yuan, an increase of 1.211 billion yuan from the previous year. The entry threshold of “2023 Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises in Manufacturing Industry” amounted to RMB 14.516 billion, an increase of RMB 1.944 billion from the previous year. The threshold of “2023 Top 100 Private Enterprises in China’s Service Industry” reached 31.404 billion yuan, an increase of 1.289 billion yuan from the previous year. There are 28 private enterprises on the national list of the world’s top 500, including 3 in Suzhou.

Among the 26 Suzhou enterprises on the list of “2023 Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises”, there are 6 enterprises with business revenue exceeding 100 billion yuan, accounting for 55% of the province’s 100 billion yuan enterprises on the list. Three enterprises entered the top 20, Hengli Group ranked No. 3 with business revenue of 611.8 billion yuan in 2022, and entered the top three again, while Shenghong Holding Group and Shagang Group ranked No. 11 and No. 18 respectively. In addition, GCL Group, Hengtong Group and Yongzhuo Holdings all entered the top 100, ranking 40th, 50th and 81st.

From the perspective of enterprise scale, the total revenue of the 26 shortlisted “2023 Top 500 Private Enterprises in China” enterprises reached 2.52 trillion yuan, accounting for 41.65% of the total revenue of the shortlisted enterprises in the province, and the average household was 96.847 billion yuan, an increase of 3.48%. The total assets were 1.79 trillion yuan, and the average household was 68.987 billion yuan, an increase of 12.45%.

From the perspective of social contribution, total tax payment of 71.034 billion yuan, total profit of 70.333 billion yuan; absorbing a total of 495,100 people employed, household average of 190,000 people.

From the geographical distribution, Zhangjiagang City accounted for 9, Wujiang District 6, Industrial Park 3, Changshu City, Wuzhong District 2 each, Taicang City, Kunshan City, Xiangcheng District and High-tech Zone 1 each.

From the distribution of industries, 26 enterprises on the list, engaged in the tertiary industry, a total of 4; the other 22 are concentrated in the secondary industry, of which 20 for the manufacturing industry, 2 for the construction industry.

Among the 25 Suzhou enterprises listed in the “2023 Top 500 Chinese Manufacturing Private Enterprises”, 3 of them entered the top 20, Hengli Group was ranked first again, and Shenghong Holding Group and Shagang Group ranked 7th and 14th, which fully reflected the leading position of Suzhou’s manufacturing in the country.
